With
great
sensitivity,
the
filmmakers
Ann
Sirot
and
Raphael
Balboni
help
us
discover
extraordinary
actors,
notably
Jo
Deseure
in
the
role
of
the
mother
regressing
to
an
unmanageable
child.
Overwhelmed,
her
son
(the
outstanding
actor
Jean
Le
Peltier)
is
profoundly
affected
by
this
radical
transformation.
Nonetheless,
this
luminous
tale
snubs
its
nose
at
sickness
and
death.
The
film
combines
daring
visuals
with
a
tone
that
hovers
between
humour
and
poetry.

Alex and Noémie, both in their thirties, want a child. But their plans are upset when Alex’s mother, Suzanne, starts acting rather bizarrely. It is due to her suffering from “semantic dementia,” a neurodegenerative disorder that influences her behavior. She visits her neighbors in the middle of the night to eat slices of bread, and cobbles together a fake driver’s license for herself with scissors and glue. Suzanne becomes an uncontrollable child. An unexpected and unusual parenting boot camp for Noémie and Alex!
