Biography

Geneviève Albert is a Quebec screenwriter and director. After studying cinema at UQAM, she turned first to documentaries. She then directed several short fiction films that toured festivals. In 2011, she suspended her film career for a few years to perform a role in Cirque du Soleil's IRIS show in Los Angeles.

Returning home in 2014, she once again turned her attention to film. NOÉMIE DIT OUI (2022) is her first feature film. Heartbreakingly realistic, this hard-hitting film won over 15 festival awards. A double winner at the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival, it will be released in France in spring 2023 on 250 screens, and in Spain in January 2024. The filmmaker is currently developing two feature-length fiction films.
