Hamid is a Strasbourg resident of Syrian origin who appears to be ordinary. However, he is secretly searching for Syrian war criminals, including his tormentor—a prison guard he has never seen but who haunts him nonetheless. Jonathan Millet manages, beyond a portrayal of the daily life of a political refugee from the Syrian regime, to provide a remarkable exploration of redemption and resilience. Actor Adam Bessa impresses with his maturity, supported by a screenplay that candidly highlights certain geopolitical realities. The film opened the Critics' Week at Cannes and was a great success in theaters across France.
