The title of co-directors Lila Pinell and Chloé Mathieu’s film, “KISS AND CRY”, is an apt one for parents and teen-age daughters being dropped-off at the Colmar Figure Skating Club for gruelling training sessions, hopefully to become professional skaters. Sarah (Sarah Bramms), is uncertain whether she’s really doing it all to please her “skate-mom” Dinara, or herself. Intense rivalries, a tyrannical coach, stress of competition and simultaneous school-year scheduling, take their toll. The body is stretched to the limits of endurance. And, normal adolescent emotions and desires are a further distraction. These girls long for normal lives wherein dreams don’t turn into nightmares.
