Nathalie (Isabelle Huppert) is a professor of philosophy at a Parisian lycée. Passionate about her career, she loves to convey her thoughts and tastes about philosophers to her students and graduates. She’s married, with two kids, and her life is divided between her family, her mother and her students. When her husband leaves her for another woman, Nathalie not only finds herself single but empty-nested and caring for an ailing mother. As everything unravels around her, she soldiers on. And faced with newfound freedoms, she begins to reinvent her life.
Acclaimed director Mia Hansen-Løve’s impressive film is a light-hearted portrayal of dramatic life changes that many women in their fifties are forced to confront.
