After an accident leaves her with amnesia, Leila, an artist of Iraqi descent, reconstructs her story by delving into her roots. She learns Arabic, interprets the poems of her exiled Iraqi father, and immerses herself in the narratives of the Gulf War. It’s the odyssey of a woman who sings her story to reinvent herself. This poetic work is distinctive in its use of music and its intimate yet geopolitical dimension. Leila Albayaty (Berlin Telegram) invites viewers to understand Iraq, this "other world," where she discovered the love of her family, but also the violence of a society ravaged by years of dictatorship, wars, and sanctions.
